Happy Cows

I was out for a drive recently and noticed cows in the green pastures. There I was — racing along the road on my way to run errands and feeling a bit stressed. And there was a sign about happy cows and good California cheese. Pleeeese… Are cows really happy? I don’t know, but I started thinking.

I’ve never seen two cows running around the field with a “to do” list. I’ve never seen cows wanting to argue about some issue. I’ve never heard a cow complain about or take offense over anything. Are they happy? I don’t know. But they sure look content. Serene, even.

I love it when God taps me on the shoulder and whispers – Slow down and look around. There’s a cow over there. Now tell Me how that cow thrives out there while you’re driving hither and yon, in such a rush? Are you seeing?

I stopped, took pictures.

God sure has a sense of humor. Cows! Seriously. Yep.

We could all use a little more serenity in our lives, couldn’t we? Here is what I learned from those “happy” cows:
Graze on the green grass of Scripture every morning. Find words from God to chew on and ponder for the rest of the day. Gather in a herd every Sunday morning. Relax with other “cows” and discuss what you pondered during the week. And then –share “the milk”.

Simple, isn’t it? What a great way to live – and thrive.
