Grandma Johnson’s Turkey Dressing

November 20, 2012 By Francine Rivers

Thoroughly rinse the inside and outside of the turkey.  Oil and salt inside and outside of the turkey.

2 large or 3 small onions

7 stalks of celery

1 large green pepper

2-3 boxes of Mrs. Cubbison’s traditional bread stuffing

All giblets

Enough turkey broth to permit shaping of stuffing

Cook giblets in salted water until tender.  Save broth.  De-bone neck.

Finely chop or grind all ingredients and hand mix together using some of the broth from cooking giblets to keep dressing moist and easy to shape.

Fill turkey with the above dressing and bake until the meat begins to tear away from the ends of the drumsticks.  Uncover for fifteen minutes to brown the skin.
