Do you ever feel that you have nothing to offer God, that He can’t use you? If so, take a look at this list written by “anonymous” that I tucked in my quote collection. These are all people God used in mighty ways:
Noah planted a vineyard and got drunk from the wine
Abraham lied twice to save his own skin, letting other men take his wife away
Jacob was a swindler
Leah was homely and unloved
Joseph was hated by his brothers, abused, sold as a slave and imprisoned
Moses was adopted and stuttered
Gideon was a coward
Samson had a sex addiction
Rahab was a prostitute
David was an adulterer and murderer
Elijah became so depressed he was suicidal
Jeremiah preached for decades and no one listened
Isaiah went around naked
Jonah ran away from God, got swallowed, and then vomited up by a fish
Job lost his children, property, and had friends who said he was to blame
John the Baptist ate insects
Peter denied Jesus three times
The Apostles all ran out on Jesus and hid
Martha worried about dinner preparations and entertaining guests
The Samaritan woman was divorced several times and living unwed to the last
Zacchaeus was shorter (and richer) than everyone else
Paul caused riots everywhere he went
Timothy had an ulcer
Lazarus was dead
We’re all a mess, and yet, God loves us and uses us in ways we could never imagine on our own. Whoever you are, wherever you are, know this: God has a purpose for your life.
