Down through the ages, scientists have sought answers and come up with theories. For example:
Geoterrapinism Theory= the earth rests on top of a giant turtle
Fixed Earth Theory= the earth is the center of the universe
Contracting Earth Theory/Geophysical Global Cooling = the earth is getting smaller
Expanding Earth Theory = the earth is ever-expanding like the universe
Spontaneous Generation Theory = life forms from inanimate matter; i.e. fleas come
from dust, maggots from dead flesh, etc.
If a scientist said it, the people, sometimes generations of them, believed it.
Most scientists ignore the Bible as a source of scientific knowledge.
The Bible says the earth is round (Job 26:10), suspended in space (Job 26:7), in an expanding universe (Isaiah 40:22). The Bible (Genesis 1) tells the order in which things came to be: light, a separation of light and darkness, waters separate from heavens, dry land, vegetation, sun, moon, stars (signs, seasons, days, years – time), swarming creatures on and above the earth (insects, birds), sea creatures, living creature on land (mammals, amphibians, reptiles) and finally, mankind.
God spoke light into being. (Jesus is the Light of the world and The Word.) Electromagnetic radiation travels at the speed of light (186,000 mps) and is what gives us worldwide, instant wireless communication.
Theories on the complete water cycle have been debated for centuries. Scientists are now theorizing that the earth’s water (including lakes, rivers, oceans), came from blackened snowball comets falling on earth. The Bible tells about the water and hydrologic cycles: “all rivers run into the sea”, “if the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth”, God calls “the waters of the sea and pours them out on the face of the earth”, “He draws up drops of water, which distill as rain from the mist, which the clouds drop down and pour abundantly on man”. (Eccl 11:3, Amos 9:6, Job 36:26-28)
Thermodynamics have found energy can be changed from one form to another, but it can’t be destroyed. In all physical processes, every ordered system over time tends to become more disordered. “Thou, Lord, in the beginning didst lay the foundations of the earth…they will perish, but Thou remainest, and they will all become old as a garment, and as a mantle Thou wilt roll them up..” (Zechariah 12:1, Psalm 102:25-26, Isaiah 34:4, Isaiah 51:6)
If scientists want answers, it might behoove them to look deeply into God’s Word. They will find a treasure trove of information for every area of science.
