Pedometer

In one of my more insane moments, I got the brilliant idea it would be good to wear a pedometer.  I have no idea how many steps I take a day, but have been told by those in the know that a healthy person is supposed to walk 10,000 steps a day.  It sounded like a good thing to know where I am on the health-o-dometer.

Rather than go out looking for one at a sports gear store, I went on-line and ordered one.  I walked all the way to the door to get the package.  It took me a while to figure out how the little gadget works because I thought I should get a good one.  My pedometer measures everything but the steam coming out my ears from trying to program it.  (Everyone in the family will tell you I am not a techy.)   One of my children laughed the other day when he saw the new universal remote.  “Do you know how to use it?”  I smiled, a little tightly, and didn’t answer.

Ah.  The pedometer.  Alas.   It works.

Five miles on an exercycle doesn’t count.  What’s fair about that?  Stairs don’t seem to register.  We have a lot of stairs.  The first week we lived in this house (years ago!), I wondered why my legs ached so much and then remembered. Oh, yeah!   Stairs!!

As I mentioned in my blog, I have been working diligently on my current WIP (work-in-progress).  I do get up to make myself a cup of tea or hot chocolate.  I do take the dog out for exercise in the back yard.

Total number of steps today:  345

A word almost flew out of my mouth before I clamped it shut.  Sorry, Lord.  Almost forgot.  He reads minds, you know.  Sigh.

Until this project is in-house (in Tyndalean hands), this miserable little lurking pedometer is going in a drawer!

At least I didn’t go out in the garage and get a hammer.
