KLOVE Fan Awards

Many years ago, when Rick and I moved to Sebastopol, California, there was a small start-up non-commercial radio station, KCLB-FM, offering “positive alternative” broadcasting.  I started listening and never stopped.  The music was important to my state of mind and helped me in my writing.  I listened to it at home and every time I got in the car.   Rick and I became donors.  How can you not when $40 a month paid for an hour of broadcasting.

KCLB-FM became KLOVE Radio which has spread across the airwaves of America and overseas as well, not to mention the incredible on-line ministries, a teen center in Detroit and pastors on call for those in need of prayer.  It’s been exciting to watch! We still count ourselves blessed to be part of the KLOVE family.

This year, Shannon and I had an opportunity to attend the KLOVE Fan Awards in Nashville, Tennessee.  What a blast!  The Friday concert had thousands on their feet, singing with the bands and praising the Lord.  Saturday was the Song Writers’ concert.  Passing up on the set ups, the singers used guitars and shared the inspiration behind the music.  Over two hours and group after group came on stage to tell their stories and share a song or two.  The Fan Awards Program took place at the Grand (new) Ole Opry and was three solid hours of awesome music and appreciation.

Who was there?  An easier question would be who wasn’t?  Here are some that I remember:  For King and Country, Francesca Battistelli,  Casting Crowns, Kari Jobe, Matt Maher, Tenth Avenue North, Newsboys, TobyMac, Third Day, Natalie Grant, Danny Gokey, Crowder, Colton Dixon, Chris Tomlin, Big Daddy Weave, Lauren Daigle, Matthew West…  and the list goes on.  Kirk Cameron and Elisabeth Hasselbeck hosted the show and did a great job.  They even took part in the NOT-newlywed game which had everyone laughing.

All that incredible talent under one roof!  Amazing!  And there were plenty of opportunities at the Gaylord Grand Old Opry Hotel to meet and greet the singers and musicians and visionaries behind the KLOVE ministry.  And there was an after-the-event party that went on until the wee hours.

If you love Christian music, this is a great event to attend. Check out what else is going on at the KLOVE website.  There’s always something happening!
