Clear Lake

Years ago, Dad Bill drove up from Pleasanton to fish at Clear Lake. Once, he accidentally knocked a lantern off his boat and it sank to the bottom, still glowing, clearly seen from above.
The lake still looks beautiful. The top shimmers blue. But under the surface is a plague of algae and pollution. Friends stayed there not long ago, and were told by the hotel proprietor not to swim in the water.
The same is true of life in general. Sometimes things look okay on the surface, but it’s what’s underneath that counts.
